Kolber was born in Pennsylvania she earned her master's degree from the University of Miami. Kolber's career began working in New York City as a CBS Sports video coordinator. The award was a Sports Emmy for her work on WTVJ-TV Miami. She also served as a reporter for WPLG-TV Miami as well as WPEC-TV West Palm Beach. In 1993, she was selected for anchoring ESPN2's initial year of launch. Her time with ESPN2 was for three years. She then moved on to Fox Sports. In 1999 she was hired by ESPN for the show 'Monday Night Countdown.
